Carter L. Burgess, Jr. is a Managing Director in the firm’s Board Services practice. Recent assignments include director searches and board compensation and board composition assessment studies for companies in a broad array of industries, including business services, consumer products and services, energy, financial services, food service, healthcare, homebuilding, hospitality, life sciences, manufacturing, power utility, technology and transportation. He joined the firm in 2002.
Mr. Burgess had been a Principal in the Global Financial Services Practice Group of Egon Zehnder International since 1997, originating and executing searches in investment banking, capital markets, and structured finance and in such functional areas as risk management, treasury, legal, tax, and audit. He has conducted both domestic and cross-border assignments for a variety of financial services clients, including the Ambac Financial Group, ACE Ltd., ABN Amro, Barclays Capital, Citigroup, Credit Suisse First Boston, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, U.S. Bancorp, Societe Generale, and UBS.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Burgess was a Vice President, Retail Industry Coverage Group, in the Corporate Finance Division of Salomon Brothers Inc, in New York where he worked from 1990 to 1997. His clients included some of the nation’s leading food and nonfood retailers. Prior to joining Salomon, he began his career in the reinsurance industry, initially with Frank B. Hall Re International and then Sullivan Payne Company, in both London and New York.
Mr. Burgess earned his B.A. degree in international relations from Brown University and an M.B.A. degree in finance from Columbia Business School. He and his family reside in Pelham Manor, New York.
