Jeff Grogan is a senior advisor to the firm. As a leading strategist and business development consultant, he advises businesses and government leaders on strategy development and implementation, organizational strategy, and issues concerning competitiveness and security. Previously, Jeff was a partner of Monitor Group, a leading international strategy consulting firm. At Monitor, he developed competitive strategies for U.S. and international clients in various industries, including defense electronics, automotive, steel, shipbuilding, telecommunications, and professional services.
Jeff was a managing partner of Monitor’s National Competitiveness and Security Practice, offering an array of unique analytics, methods, and data sources to support investment decisions of U.S. and international clients and enhance their competitive positions and prospects. The practice advised private companies and the executive offices and major agencies of government clients in the U.S. and overseas.
He has led numerous national, regional, and cluster competitiveness studies across the U.S. He also served as an advisor to project teams in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He coordinated task forces of business, government, and academic leaders to address topics of national and regional competitiveness, make policy recommendations, and develop implementation programs. He served on presidential and gubernatorial transition teams, as well, where he orchestrated the preparation of issue briefs, policy papers, and action agendas.
Jeff was also a member of Monitor’s Office of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, where he managed the firm’s client development and senior advisor networks. In the office, he also directed special project teams and served as an interface between the firm and its joint venture partners.
Prior to joining Monitor, Jeff served as an officer in the U.S. Navy as the navigator and gunnery officer of a guided missile destroyer. He also served as a combat systems officer for the commander of a squadron of U.S. Navy warships. In this capacity, Jeff served as a tactical action officer for anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare commanders in aircraft carrier battle group contingency response operations in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Arabian Sea.
Jeff chaired the Board of Trustees of Noble and Greenough School for six years. He is also a long-standing trustee of Tenacre Country Day School. He is a founding director and trustee of the Fitzie Foundation, created in memory of his sister, which recognizes the accomplishments and supports the efforts and interests of remarkable young women. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has served on the Governing Board of the John Adams Innovation Institute, and the Boards of MassInc and MassTech, organizations in Massachusetts formed to promote innovation and develop meaningful collaboration across industry, government, and academia.
Jeff is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in international security affairs. Following his naval service, he earned a MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Jeff and his wife Kennie and their daughters Alison and Katherine live in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
