How I Deliver Impact
Prior to undertaking a search, I spend a great deal of time learning about my client’s company and strategy, and especially the culture, chemistry, and dynamics of their board. I always make sure my knowledge is up-to-date and I am ready to hit the ground running on repeat assignments. I then work closely with clients to create a candidate profile that includes the most desirable personality traits and areas of leadership experience and expertise that align with the company’s long-term strategy and that do not currently exist on the board. Through extensive interviews and referencing, I make sure that finalist board director candidates align well with our client’s profile and, most importantly, are an ideal fit from both a culture and chemistry standpoint. I never waiver from the commitment I make to understanding my client and their succession planning objectives. It has consistently paid off and has resulted in satisfied clients and repeat business.
Expertise I Bring to the Firm’s Clients
I have been in executive recruiting for almost 20 years. I have focused exclusively on board recruiting for the past 15 years, and have completed over 200 director searches. Before RSR Partners, I was a senior member of the Financial Services Practice at Egon Zehnder in New York.
Some of my more recent assignments include director searches, the build-out of entire boards, comprehensive board composition, skills, and experience gap analyses, and corresponding multi-year succession planning strategies and board performance assessments for companies in a broad array of industries: business services, chemicals, construction and engineering, consumer products and services, energy, financial services, healthcare, homebuilding, hospitality and leisure, life sciences, logistics, manufacturing, utilities, technology, and transportation.
Before I started in search, I was a vice president in the Corporate Finance Department at Salomon Brothers. As a member of the retail industry coverage group, I advised leading retailers on a variety of matters, including acquisitions, divestitures, and accessing the public, private equity, and fixed income capital markets.
I graduated from Brown University with a BA in international relations and have an MBA from Columbia University.
Life Outside of RSR Partners
My wife and I are long-time residents of Pelham Manor, New York. We have two grown children; one lives in Manhattan and the other in Boulder, Colorado. I love the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, bird watching, and gardening.
